Meet Your Trusted Canine Trainer

Committed to canine well-being and behavior

Compassion, commitment, empathy, patience, experience, and perseverance are the cornerstones of my approach. Each dog and owner brings distinct issues. Together, we’ll identify and map out a path to success.

Hi, I’m Kevin…

For over 27 years, I’ve worked with dogs.

I spent 19 years as a canine handler for the New York State Police, working with SORT (SWAT), Mobile Field Unit (Riot team), and as a canine instructor at the State Police Canine School. I was also the regional training day coordinator for the state police in the Capital Region, overseeing the training for 26 state and local canine teams.

As a bomb dog handler, I’ve been involved in dignitary protection searches for US presidents, their families, and dignitaries from around the world. On  September 11, 2001 I responded to New York City and conducted explosive detection searches. I routinely conducted explosive detection searches for entertainers at large events.

I searched areas for US Supreme Court Judges and Federal Judges overseeing terrorism trials and was part of large searches for violent suspects. I was also involved in large-scale searches for missing children and elderly adults suffering from dementia. With over 3,000 police canine calls for service, I put all the behaviors I have seen and experienced to work for you.

In 2017, I became a certified Behavior Consultant through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT). I instruct at the State University of New York in their Canine Training and Management Degree program, attend International Canine Science Seminars, and immerse myself in the world of canine cognition, neuroscience, and behavior.

I work with all breeds of dogs in all types of behaviors in all situations. Our work together will help you reach your goals with your dog. You can expect…

  • An empathic approach to you and your dog's individual needs

  • A partnership with your veterinarian for a well-rounded approach

  • Home visits for your convenience and a custom, personalized experience

  • Access to a private training location and public locations to meet the unique needs of your dog

“As a result of Kevin’s training with my service dog McGarrett, my anxiety has lessened, my sleep has improved, I am off all medications and I work full time at a busy job. I owe all of this to Kevin and his training of McGarrett”.

When I’m not working with my clients, I volunteer at dog daycares to conduct behavior assessments and implement behavior changes for dogs in need.

Mission

I aim to improve the performance and relationship between humans and dogs. Whether it’s a working dog facing a high-risk situation, a service dog responding to the needs of its owner, or a pet owner facing behavior issues, I look to build the strongest relationship to achieve the desired outcome.

Vision

I strive to build a quality, long-term relationship between dogs and humans. I work towards improving the lives of both through cooperative intervention strategies with proven results.

“I asked Kevin to consult with the residential treatment program for mental health that I run. He’s training several of our resident’s animals to be service animals to respond to their individual needs. He’s an invaluable part of our program, and I’m very grateful for him."
